Historic Old Roebuck Tavern Oil Painting

This wonderful oil painting on board is of The Historic Old Roebuck Tavern dates back to 1700 and was on Old Post Road in East Walpole Massachusetts as noted on the back. It was painted by Fred M. Larrabee who we found in an 1872 historic register for the Town of Norwood.

I love the honey-colored field surrounding the simple structures. It's small (6 3/4” x 12”) but draws you right in with it's idyllic scene and distant blue hills. There is some slight damage around the edges to be expected in a piece that is 100+ years old. It's a perfect accent for a small space.
